Kgal gmbh&co kg, a German investment and asset management company, announced on Thursday that it had obtained approval in Italy to build three solar photovoltaic power plants with a total generating capacity of 380 MW in Lazio and Sicily.

These include the 150 megawatt tuscania project, which kgal says is one of the largest solar projects ever approved in Italy. The second project is the 90 MW vitochiano project, which is about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) away from taskania.

The two projects are strategically located in the region between northern Italy and Rome. According to the German investor, higher electricity prices can be achieved there.

The third approved project is the 140 MW pietra Monreale project in Sicily, which is part of the kgal Sicily project pipeline and can be expanded to 700 MW in several sections in the next few years. Kgal espf 4 fund holds a part of this portfolio, and the rest is the investment of its successor fund kgal espf 5.

Kgal espf 5, an impact fund, recently acquired a majority stake in baltex progetti, an Italian renewable energy developer. Baltex progetti is a company that owns wind and solar energy project pipelines with a combined capacity of more than 300 MW in Emilia Romagna, Sardinia and Sicily.

The investor added that all these opportunities in Italy could be translated into more than 1200 megawatts of wind and solar power generation capacity.
